The twonky server I'm running came with my Linksys E4200.
I connected a Lacie 1TB drive to the USB Port.

Now I see the filesystem and I want to copy media to the device.

On my mac i see a file system:
/Volumes/NEW VOLUME/twonkymedia.db
1.tms.dat
2.tms.dat
3.tms.dat
4.tms.dat
5.tms.dat
6.0.32
6.tms.dat
7.tms.dat
10.tms.dat
cache (folder)
di.dat
temp (folder)

I want to copy some movies over to the filesystem / server and I don't know what I should do.
Should I create a folder called Movies?
What format should the movies be in? i.e. mp4 720p....

TIA

I would create a folder called Videos and place all of your movies in it.
Q: What format should the movies be in? i.e. mp4 720p....
A: The answer to this questions depends on what media players you're using. Check the Panasonic site for supported formats for your product. Normally MPEG-2 is the most commonly supported format.

I've scowered the Panasonic Web site for information and come up empty handed.

It seems that mp4 files are the most 'liked' source of video.

If you have any further information on the Panasonic then I've been able to find please let me know and TIA.

MP4 is not a mandatory format for DLNA certification, so it's sometimes not supported.

MPEG-2 is a mandatory format, so it's always supported.

What happens to image quality when converting avi files to MPEG-2?
Is there a potential for a loss of image quality?

Is there a resolution implicated by MPEG-2? i.e. 1080i or 720p etc?

Yes. It depends what type of software you use for the conversion. Some is better than others.

Nope. I encode all of my videos as 1920x1080 MPEG-2. Not all devices can play 1080p MPEG-2. My Sony Blu-ray has a problem with this. Samsung TV and WDTV play them fine.
