No subtitles when playing VOB

Post by Burny » Thu Sep 22, 2011 9:15 pm

Hi all,

I've installed Twonky Media Server on my Windows 7 x64 PC.
My Samsung 46D8000 TV finds the Twonky server in my LAN and connects to it, so far so good. Playing video/audio/photo's is working.
However, when i play a VOB file (DVD) i'm unable to select subtitles.
When i play that same VOB file on my pc with VLC, subtitle work.

Is there a way to enable subtitles on my 46D8000, via Twonky?

As far as I know, at the moment subtitle support doesn't work on many Samsung models. A search of the forum should find a few threads.

Thank you for the information, although it isn't the answer i was hoping to get :)
Is there any news about how/when this problem will be fixed? Do i need to be on the lookout for a firmware update for my TV, or a new version of Twonky MS?
The thread you linked seems to indicate it can be fixed within Twonky, right?

I don't know - I have a Samsung TV myself so I'm interested in getting it working.

If the TV supports it with Samsung's own software then in theory Twonky can do it. However Twonky need time to work out how it's done and these are just one of many units they support. Even worse, Samsung seem to change things between model years making it hard for Twonky.

It might be that a firmware update helps, or it may be that it breaks things. Unfortunately it is impossible to know.

It looks like the same issue I also faced recently while watching assignment services videos on my media server and didn’t solve this issue can anyone have a solution of this? If anyone has then given I really wanted to solve this as soon as possible
