Error message appeared out of nowhere. There is no other instance, and it only runs on one machine. Restarting server makes no difference - so how do I fix this and get Twonky back?

OK. On a Windows 10 PC downstairs, accessing the Music Server tells me my trial key has expired.

It is not a trial key. I have had it for a few years, and I paid for it.

MANAGE TWONKY SERVER LICENSE KEY tells me I have THREE instances running.

Bad bug preventing me from using a package I paid for.

Pissed off, frankly.

Me too. I was using v8.4.1 and updated to 8.5.1 about 30 days ago. Message on the TV saying trial license expired. Visited the server page to be greeted with this 'This key is already in use by another instance of the server' - NO it is NOT. Suffice to say license is correctly applied. Guess I'm going back to 8.4.1.

Same issue here, running 8.5.1 without any issue, then this today - key is already in use by another instance of the server, I am only running it on a single Windows 10 PC !! Part of their site is down, the area where you can recover lost licence keys !!

I am interested in a response on this also. My QNAP Twonky instance of 8.5.1 is also issuing this message when I only use this software on this one device. I have tried logging out and in of the licence server but no joy. Only stopped working today.

Me too. Deleted appdata and a restart and it's working again. I don't like how connected this is to 'base'.

I don't mind an occasional license verification but 24/7 it seems, nah.

Hi - still have the problem, what did you delete from appdata - the full contents?

The entire folder including 'TwonkyServer' at:
'C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\TwonkyServer'

I kept a copy of twonkyserver.ini from that folder before the delete to save a reconfigure after restarting.

The problem seems to be caused by corrupted token file associated with your session.

Please follow these steps to fix the problem:

1) Open your main TwonkyServer configuration page (http://ip.of.your.twonkyserver:9000/webconfig)
2) Click on the 'License Key' button of the License Information section. This will redirect you to a page titled "Manage Twonky Server License Key".
3) In the License management page, de-authorize Twonky for the computer/device that is having the problem by clicking in the 'trash icon' that is located at the right side.
4) Restart TwonkyServer and login again with your Lynx Account information.

Let me know if this solves your problem.

As additional information for our investigation, please let us know what is your OS version (if you are running Twonky in a computer) or device model.

Me too, I'm having the same problem and I can't get to make this thing work. I deleted AppData folder and I also de-authorized my Twonky server as suggested by JeremyP99. None of this helped, this is frustrating as I paid for this license!!! Please help! Thanks.

Update to my post: After some minutes, this issue is gone. I suspect the workaround from JeremyP99 did the trick, so disregard. Thanks!

I'm guessing they are having problems with their backend servers again. I've emailed the support team who helped me last time but not had a reply yet

I had this issue on Twonky 8.5.1 running on a Linux-Server with Ubuntu 18.04 as well and I can confirm the described procedure solved the problem for me even without reboot.

It seems that there backend servers keep being hacked. They are trying to secure them and restore service.
