Web media browser problem - TMS

Post by ksavage » Mon Mar 28, 2011 9:56 pm

How do I get the web media browser to auto-advance to the next track? All it seems to provide in terms of functionality is the ability to play one song. After the song is over, it looks like I have to go back to the computer, hit the back button, and find another song to play. Is there a way to get the web media browser to auto-advance to the next song in the list?

The web media browser isn't really intended to be a full-featured player. Try one of the following instead:

1. Use the Flash browser instead (if you're running TwonkyServer 5.1 of later)
2. Use TwonkyManager for PC
3. Use any UPnP or DLNA certified connected media player like the ones here to play your music from TwonkyServer

How do I access the flash browser? I would like to try that, but I thought that I needed TMS version 6.x, not 5.1. I am running 5.1.7 according to the status page.

Thanks

If you can show me how to access the flash media browser with TMS 5.1.7, great. Otherwise, I know I can use Windows Media Player but I am interested in alternatives. What other Windows 7-based DLNA clients (DMRs) exist out there? I have had a hard time tracking them down. I found an "XMBC", but not much else.

To access this page, you'll need to go to the server settings pages using a web browser. If you have not changed the default settings, this page is normally found at the following location: http://your-ip:port/configpage/index.htm where "your-ip" is the IP address of the device where the server is running and port is the port number of the HTTP server (9000 by default).

The URL http://127.0.0.1:9000 will also work on most computers.

Once can see the server settings pages in your browser, click on the icon that looks like a Wrench. You should then see a Flash link under Media Browser.

I tried this, but I do not see the wrench icon on the settings page. I was not able to get the flash link to show up. Are you sure that the flash browser is available on version 5.1.7? Do I perhaps need version 6 of twonky server? This version is not yet made available by Thecus for its NAS products.

You are correct. The Flash UI first appeared in TwonkyServer 6.0. Hopefully Thecus will update to that version soon.
