DeviceDescription.xml on standard linux?

Post by belveder » Sat Dec 04, 2010 7:06 pm

Hi,

I did a test install of the twonky 6.something server on a ubuntu 10.04 x86 mobile pc and wanted to test if I can basically access it through my iphone and plugplayer. For my satelite receiver, everything works perfectly, but for my iphone I can't get it to work.

As far as I understood there should be a "DeviceDescription.xml" file accessed through http to set up the link to the media server, but this file does not exist on my installation. I don't know how to generate it and how to configure it - I didn't find an explanation anywhere. Any hints?

Regards...

Hi,

ok, since there was no help from here, I installed _mediatomb_ and that provides a device description xml file right from the start. Why should I buy a twonky license in favor of using free software? I like the way twonky works, but if there's no help in getting the DeviceDescription stuff to work I'm no longer interested...

cheers
