Playing MKV containing H.264 to PS3, without loss of quality

Post by xreyuk » Thu Dec 29, 2011 1:09 am

Hey guys,

Will Twonky play MKV files containing H.264 video to the PS3, without a loss of quality?

How can I find out what type of encoding is used in the rest of my video files. I.E What any .avi files I have contain?

Thanks.

A: TwonkyServer should be able to stream these files. The question is whether the PS3 can play them. More info here: http://manuals.playstation.net/document ... types.html

Based on what I read, I think the answer is no, but you might want to try and trick it by changing the file extension to .mp4. It probably won't work, but it can't hurt.

I know there is an app that will scan video files for codec type, but I can't remember it's name. Maybe someone else does.
