Mac + PS3 + MP3 Streaming: How??

Post by resistor » Sat Mar 01, 2008 3:14 pm

Just bought a PS3 today. I used to have an XBox 360 and had no problems streaming my MP3 data using Twonkyvision.

The PS3, however, shows the infamous "incompatible data" message. I found out that the PS3 does not even support MP3  I further found out that Twonkyvision could convert the MP3 data using the lame plugin.

The Twonkyvision homepage offers two precompiled binaries, one for Windows one for Linux. None for Mac OS. It further states to put the lame plugin into the cgi-bin directory of the server.

How can I do that with my Mac (Leopard 10.5.2, TwonkyVision 4.4.4)? Or, more concretely:

1) Where can I get a precompiled lame plugin for Mac OS X?
2) Where is the cgi-bin directory of the server??
3) Did anybody manage to stream MP3 to the PS3 from Mac at all???

Any comments appreciated.

Did you find a solution to this? I have had no issues streaming MP3's to my PS3 using everything from MediaTomb to MediaLink and now Twonky. I'm not sure what you might have configure differently but I could try to at least walk through a working config :)

PS I'm running Leopard
