Cannot Upgrade or Reinstall on Mac!

Post by rzanerutledge » Tue Jun 17, 2008 10:25 pm

Hi there. I've been using 4.4.3 for some time and mostly successfully. There's some quirks getting things to stay set and getting everything to show up on my PS3...but for the most part, I've been happy with Twonky. I decided maybe it was worth a 4.4.5 upgrade in case some of these quirks were fixed.

Unfortunately, the 4.4.5 installed would not work for me. It seemed to think the "upgrade" was a downgrade, giving me a warning that "The chosen volume contains software that is newer than the software you are installing." You can Continue to ask it to go ahead anyway, but a screen later it fails, saying: "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install."

I thought maybe uninstalling would help with this... But alas, even after what I *think* is a successful uninstall, it does not work! It still thinks it's installed, but of course now I have NO Twonky version working at all. Something in the uninstaller is not working completely, and this installer upgrade is really no good.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

After a LOT of searching on this, found this:

Remove /Library/Receipts/MediaServer.pkg (or something similar).

And it worked. For other's reference. (Sheesh.)
