Playlists

I cannot seem to get playlists to show. I have an iMac Intel with my iTunes on a separate hard drive connected by firewire. I am trying to stream to Moxi DVR (powerline ethernet connection). Music, video and photos do work, but playlists do not show up. Please understand I have no real understanding of what info is required for someone to help me. I will furnish any info that is needed, I just don't know what that is at this time.
