NAS QNAP 210 Turbo will not upload music files

Post by napperchapper21 » Tue Jun 07, 2011 10:47 pm

My QNAP 210 Turbo does upload my CD's which contains m4a files and the title of the song/piece of music which appears as follows:

01 Adam at the Window.m4a

It will not upload any track simply called Track 1, or 2 or any other number for that matter, they look as follows:

01 Track 01.m4a

Can anyone advise me on how to upload these tracks most of which are from vinyl albums recorded on to cd and loaded into itunes. The strange thing is some have uploaded successfully but now they will not?

Thankyou,

Puzzled.

This seems like it might not be a server-related issue, but I'm checking with our engineers to make sure. If it is our problem, than it would help if you could send me two sample files. One that works and one that does not.

I'll let you know when I hear back.

I just heard back. They agree that this problem is related to your NAS and not TwonkyServer. You should make QNAP aware of this issue and see if they have a firmware version available.

Hi Rick,

I will make NAS aware of this problem.

Meantime could you please advise me on how I send the files to you anyway as I am sure you are interested to inspect them.

Thankyou,

Paul

Hi Rick,

I have discovered one method of getting around the problem by renaming the tracks in itunes with the Artists name as follows in for example a John Denver album:

Track 01 would be changed to John Denver 1

This now uploads successfully on to the NAS but I have 400 albums to get through!

Is there a shorter method?

Thankyou,

Paul

There is software which may be able to automate the renaming process for you, if that's the route you decide to take. I use Tag&Rename, but there are probably others that do the same thing.

You can e-mail the test files to me at tmm-beta@pv.com. Make sure to include a link to this thread, since I get a huge amount of e-mail and it's hard to keep everything straight. Thanks.

Thankyou Tim,

I have sent you 2 files, one which uploads and one which does not.

Good luck with them and thanks for the advice.

1. I received the file that you say will not upload. I did not get the one which works.

2. I was able to confirm that TwonkyServer is correctly scanning the file you said did not upload and all metadata is successfully imported into our database. That makes it appear that problem is not with TwonkyServer.

I think Qnap has their own software that they use for uploading. If that's not the case, please let me know.
