Lacie Edmini through VPN

Has anyone tried accessing their Edmini through a VPN tunnel ?
I wanted to get a secure connection and also see if I could get Itunes and Twonky working over one with Rendezvous proxy runnning but I cannot ping the Lacie drive or connect via web page or samba share.

Sorted it myself.

Was a bug with firmware v1.0.8 on the edmini - upgraded and all is well.

I'm also having problems accessing EdMini over VPN. I've tried the firmware upgrade, but it hasn't helped. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

What is the fastest, least latency VPN protocol? I am setting up a VPN across two DD-WRT routers. Information traveling over this VPN is not sensitive or private, I just want the fastest possible transmission speeds between my two VPN endpoints. I wouldn't even mind if i didn't have to encrypt it.
