TMS 5.1 on QNAP TS-439U with M1001

Post by Apoc70 » Sat Jan 02, 2010 4:13 pm

HI,
I use a new QNAP TS-439U which runs a Twonky Media Server 5.1.
The Media Server is being seen by other clients (Windows 7) but not by the Soundbridge device.

The Soundbridge recognizes the UPnP Server when I call UPnPSearch and UPnPGetDeviceInfo, but it does not connect to the Twonky Media Server:
UPnPGetDeviceInfo 7076436f-6e65-1063-8074-00089bbde3b8
UPnPGetDeviceInfo: uuid: 7076436f-6e65-1063-8074-00089bbde3b8
UPnPGetDeviceInfo: type: schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1
UPnPGetDeviceInfo: deviceDescriptionURL: http://192.168.55.81:9000/DeviceDescription.xml
UPnPGetDeviceInfo: rootDevice: 1
UPnPGetDeviceInfo: service[0]: schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1
UPnPGetDeviceInfo: service[1]: schemas-upnp-org:service:ConnectionManager:1
UPnPGetDeviceInfo: OK

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Thomas

Is the Soundbridge being seen on the Twonky Clients/Security config page? Has it been identified correctly?

Where do I find the "Twonky Clients/Security" configuration?

The Soundbridge is being listed on the media receiver list correctly (MAC and IP address). Both clients are in the same subnet (there is only one).

When I reset the media reciver list, the Soundbridge is being identified as a Roku Soundbridge automatically.

The Clients/Security page is the one with the media receiver list on it so that is OK. No other ideas, sorry.

Ok.

There is one odd thing. The WIndows Twonky Server is not being recognized as an UPnP server. It is not being listed when I call UPnPSearch.

In addition both Twonky Media Server setups are being display differently in Windows Explorer (see attachment). The TM-EOS is the Windows version which is being recognized correctly. The TM-QNAP is the one not being recognized by the Soundbridge device.

Hello:

I updated my QNAp 439 to beta V3.2.1 release for a test today. I had many issues . After my tests, I d/l back to V3.1.2

Why did i want to test V3.2.1? it had the new Twonky V5.1.2 server in it. The Twonky I had before
was V4.4.17. I want to see if this new twonky release was better

I found that either twonky or the qnap OS is unstable. I have a netgear digital entertainer and a samsung tv here. both support DLNA and connect to the 439 nas via 100 Ethernet to the same switch. the nas has a 1gig link. I got frequent and random connection disconnects from my media players and TVs only after the update.

Also, the Twonky advanced tab/media receiver page is buggy. As it
discovers new devices, it will swap option selections between the other
devices it sees. No such problem with V4.4.17

Do not press the Twonky advanced tab/media feeds page. It will hang
Twonky and you will then need to re-scan all your content.

Under the Twonky advanced tab/transcoding page, only JPEG is enabled. I
could not find any means to enable the other two options (music and video)

I restarted Twonky and scanned the files, I also restart the NAs. Same
problem. I tested for about 6 hours. after that, I moved back to V3.1.2

Both the NETGEAR Digital Entertainer AND the SAMSUNG tv are working
fine. neither got a connection disconnects from my qnap 439 in the last
6 hours.

Thus it's either a problem with Qnap V 3.2.1 or the Twonky V5.1.2 server
