new user - am I missing the point?

I have a 500gb buffalo linkstation live NAS (HS-DH500GL) directly connected to my wireless linksys router. I have a buffalo linktheatre atteched to my TV which takes my media from the NAS wirelessly. I picked them both up for a total of £150 on ebay and theywork OK, but the NAS seems to be constantly (noisily) talking to the linktheatre even when I'm not using either. Also the us er interface on the linktheatre is just horrible and clunky.

I've just put te 30 day trial of twonky on my netbook and it looks great - how do I get that user interface on my TV? do I install twonky on the linktheatre or the NAS?

The linktheatre sees twonky running on my netbook, but the interface on the TV is still the crappy linktheatre one.

I'd really love somthing more user friendly & easier on the eye, twonky looks like it may be the answer, but if I install twonky on the NAS, what are the benefidts over the default media server on the NAS?

I'm not a linux expert (not even a novice  ) is there a straightforward way to get twonky running on either the NAS or the linktheatre (or both)?

Sorry to sound like a complete noob...but I am.
I have read through a bunch of threads which mention buffalo, or linkstation, but I'm none te wiser - I suspect my 3 week old twins and general lack of sleep may not be helping

Twonky will install onto your Linkstation NAS and act as the media server. The LinkTheatre connects to your TV and acts as the media renderer/player. Putting Twonky onto your NAS will not change the UI seen on the TV as that is the output from the LinkTheatre.

You need a different renderer or a TV that can act directly as a media player such as the Samsung B650s or some Sony Bravias.
