Manually updating 5.1.x to 6.0.x on WD MBMW (White Lights)

Hi guys,
I am looking to update the OEM install of Twonky from 5.1.9 to 6.0.x on my Western Digital MyBook MyWorld Edition (White Lights) simply because I can. My dilemma is not so much installing the software (which [apparently] is the Maxator Storage 2 version) but keeping the license key.
So my question is: can I keep the license if I do a manual upgrade? I am currently running 1.02.12 (beta) of the WD firmware.
