I have loaded a lot of videos on my new N4800 array. I'm confused when Twonky claim that they support DVR-MS format what that means because when I try streaming this to my Samsung TV it says "Format not supported". Doesn't the Twonky module take care of this, so if they support the media type then they can share it out to anyone?? Or does the end client have to support the format??

Re: Thecus N4800
It is the client mediaplayer device that decides what it can and cannot play.
By default, Twonky just streams the file as is. So if your mediaplayer device does not support a particular format then you cannot play it.
However, Twonky can be configured to transcode files but the setup is very difficult, not well documented and requires third-party software (e.g. ffmpeg) to do the transcoding.

Re: Thecus N4800
Thanks for the reply. I'm quite disappointed by this as I have upgraded from a Thecus N5200 (5+ years old) to a new shiny N4800 but the old one worked ok. Why have Thecus moved to a solution using Twonky if the media support is not as good??

Sounds like this is a question for Thecus.
