Twonky 7.0.9 on Synology DS-106e

Post by gmlab » Thu Sep 06, 2012 5:36 pm

Hello,

I posted this request in the wrong place yesterday, so, I post it again where I was told to post it

I have à Twonky Media server V4.4.18 installed on my NAS Synology DS-106e for a while now (2009). My TV Philips 32PFL8605H_12 works with it, but I got some problems from time to time.

I want to install a more recent (more performing?) version of Twonky. Twonky support team told me that I can install the 7.0.9 with my licence key.
I found and got the version 7.0.9 special for my DS106e, but there is no “nassetup.exe” in this package to install it from my PC.
How to solve this problem because I am not able to install directly in the Unix system of the NAS?
Is it possible to use the nassetup.exe file of another package?
What is the last version that contains “nassetup.exe”?
Are there large performance differences betwwen the 7.x version and the 6.x version?
Many thanks in advance for any advice
Regards

You can copy the files using FTP to your Synology. Switch on FTP temporarily via DSM.
I did this on my DS108J. Just copy the files to the twonky-folders on your NAS.
You might want to stop Twonky before copying, then start it afterwards.

Hope this helps.

TheOmen,

Thank you for your answer? I will try to do that, but I have two more questions :

There is no STOP button in the Configuration pages!! How to stop Twonkymedia server?

Is the structure of my old version (4.4.19) directories the same as the new special 7.0.9? Has something else changed?

Thank you,
Best Regards

Hello,

I read a lot of pages and found elemnts to build a procedure to install 7.0.9. on my DS-106e
I first uninstall the previous version (4.4.18), in using nassetup.exe, from the PC

But I forgotten to restart the DS-106e

I installed 7.0.9 and Launched it .
Note : The detailed Install log and my remarks are at the end of this post, after the ++++++........++++++++++ line

I have launched the Web UI of Twonky, and have entered the settings :
My previous Twonky 5.0 Key was accepted
I have Defined 3 folders to be shared on my NAS :
- Video (contains 29 folders, 195 files)
- Music (contains 19 folders, 305 files)
- Photo (contains 653 folders [11 at first level], 15368 files)
Rescan setting to "0"

I have launched the rescan of the content

24H later, at last Twonky scanning has stopped

Twonky found 23251 photos!!!!!! (Where did it found them?)
and clicking on Photo it shows the 11 folder
But no Video and no Music !!!

Something may be wrong in my Install, because I had to create a directory that was not decribed in the different documents I have read.

I can try to uninstall, and try to cleanup some folders and reinstall 7.0.9

How to uninstall?

Any Idea to sove?
Many thanks in advance
Best Regards,
