WD-MBWEII / Twonky 7.3RC4 or 7.2.8

Post by damo72 » Mon Oct 13, 2014 1:13 pm

I recently installed Twonky 7.3RC4 on my WD MBWEII using the MSS2 build. I have also updated Samba to 3.6.24 for reference. However following the upgrade of Twonky, it would appear that the drive has stopped spinning down. The culprit would apear to be syslogd writing to /tmp/messages every 30 seconds. The message is from airplay-plugin with a couple of incorrect options and option lengths. I will post the exact error this eve. However I have nothing else running that could have an airplay-plugin running. I have no Avahi, no Dbus, etc.

Assuming it was Twonky causing the problem I reverted to 7.2.8. Same Problem.

Has Philberton or anyone else got any words of wisdom for this linux/busybox amateur......

Thanks.

Since they never released a final version of 7.3 for nas, I havent touched it in a long time
But I do know the 7.3.0 for the other platforms is a buggy, so I still use 7.2.8

As to what is causing the situation and error you are seeing
not really sure, as I am unaware of airplay being part of twonky

maybe if you uninstall twonky (usually /usr/local/twonkyserver)
and delete the twonky appdata dir ( usually /tmp/twonkyserver )
the equation to see what might be causing the issue will have less things to look at
