Samsung SmartTV and TwonkyMedia 8.2.0 on QNAP TS-231 - problem.

Post by huliganov » Sun Dec 06, 2015 8:56 am

After the next update to version 8.2.0.0 can not watch videos on TV from Samsung.
I go into the application executable file, and the connection is lost with QNAP TS-231. Sometimes almost immediately, sometimes a 10-20 second. Start the video is not possible.
With the previous version had no problems.
Install the older version on the TC-321 is not possible, only new.
What to do?

Did you use the package provided by QNAP in there App Center or did you use the custom package provided her in the forum? (http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/8.2/)

Could you please send us a log file for your problem?
You find detailed instructions on how to obtain the log file here: http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3922

I sent in the mail full log.
2 times the error a few seconds watching the video, and once when I was just flipping through the list of movies - and paying connection.
Please see mail.

But I want to say that the record is very modest, with one entry for every error. Here's an example:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
2015-12-08 19:40:29:275 [Error] - LOG_EVENTING: handleConnections : Received error in resubscribe (4822) response 412 from http://192.168.1.110:7676
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
IP address 192.168.1.110 - this is my Samsung Smart TV.

If you start to watch a movie a few seconds - an error in the log is written.
If just throws when viewing the film (this also sometimes) I have not seen an error record in the logs. But perhaps I look bad.
I have been paying double the connection at the beginning of the film, once thrown out when viewing the films, one more time at the beginning of the viewing movie.
But in the end I saw the logs only 3 errors. You'll see them in your mail.

Same here prestine QNAP Twonky from Apps store. Did work before, now not anymore with 8.2. Samsung TV disconnects after 15-30 seconds regardless of the task, whether browsing or playing video. Playing video only works if the stream is initiated via the twonky web gui. If the stream is initiated though the TV server or TV disconnects after 15-30 seconds require to establish the connection to the media server again for the next 30 seconds. Please fix or advise how to downgrade.

Could you please add some more information about the NAS and the TV?

Which Samsung TV do you have? Which QNAP NAS do you use? What other Apps have you installed on your NAS?

Is the TV correctly discovered by the server? You can check that in the device list on http://<ip-of-nas>:9000/webconfig#sharing
Do you have multiple networks attached to your NAS (if it is possible)?

I am just trying to gather some more information to maybe reproduce the problem here. So far I was not able to reproduce the problem with a QNAP TS-231. I could stream a video for 2 hours to a Samsung TV without any problems.

Hi here is a summery of the solution we found to the original problem:

The problem of the original thread starter was that the QNAP NAS was connected via two network interfaces to the same network. We changed something in Twonky Server in a way that a second connection to the same network is not ignored anymore. Therefore make sure that you have either configured Port Trunking on your QNAP NAS or use only one of the network interfaces. To configure Port Trunking go to System Settings > Network. There you find a button to configure Port Trunking. You can find more information about port trunking here: http://docs.qnap.com/nas/4.0/en/index.html With Port Trunking both interfaces will be listed with the same IP address.

Another problem could be when the VPN Server is enabled. It is best to let Twonky ignore this interface. On my NAS the VPN interface was listed as tun0.
Use the following command http://<ip-of-nas>:9000/rpc/set_option?ignoreiface=tun0
and restart Twonky Server with http://<ip-of-nas>:9000/rpc/restart or through the QNAP web interface.
Twonky Server then ignores the VPN interface and should only list one interface. You can check the interfaces at:
http://<ip-of-nas>:9000/webconfig#status

Confirmed!
My problem is completely solved, after it became clear that a second network interface to a network server prevents Twonkey.

Hi All,

I have the same problem with a samsung Smart TV D7000 and qnap TS412.
Problem started after the upgrade of the firmware of the QNAP. (Samsung disconnects after about 20-25 minutes)
After some discussion with Artur from QNAP support, he gave me the advice to post the problem on this forum.
I have obtained and attached the log files from the twonkyserver.
Tried downgrading the firmware on QNAP which also didn't resolve the problem

Kind regards,
Marco

PS i've checked and have only one network connection active (as per advice on port trunking) and no VPN

Hi!
I have the same problem: Samsung TV disconnects after 15-30 seconds regardless of the task, whether browsing or playing video. Playing video only works if the stream is initiated via the twonky web gui.

Network Interfaces
192.168.2.105:9000 ZZ:XX:YY:QQ:WW:SS
10.0.5.1:9000 SS:ZZ:XX:YY:QQ:WW
10.0.3.1:9000 WW:SS:ZZ:XX:YY:QQ
169.254.100.100:9000 WW:SS:ZZ:XX:YY:QQ

(MAC-addresses masked ;)

NAS QNAP TS-453A (two ports connected with port trunk via 802.3ad protocol ... like showed here - https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/tutorial ... -protocol/)
NAS have one IP only. VPN is disabled.
TV - Samsung 46C7000
The problem started after the upgrade of firmware of QNAP.
Log file attached.
