Qnap NAS and Firestick VLC client

I am having real problems getting my Firestick VLC app to work with Twonky server on a NAS.
When I open the VLC app and browse I can see the Twonky Server but cannot get a reliable connection.
When I go to the Twonky settings page on the NAS all my TVs and other devices can be seen but not the Firesticks.
Please can you help me get this working.
