LaCie EtherNet Disk Mini, Twonky 4.4.2 and PS3 - No Video

Post by adyj » Sat Nov 03, 2007 8:41 am

I've just got a Lacie Ethernet Disk Mini (320GB), with Gigabit Ethernet. Software version 1.1.1, with an installed patch from LaCie of Twonky 4.4.2

I have three shares, one for music, one for photo and one for video. The music share is fine across the network to PCs and to my PS3.

The video is another matter. Prior to the Twonky upgrade, I could see the files on my PS3 (they are mp4 files), but they were classed as 'unsupported data'. Now that the upgrade has been carried out as advised by Lacie, I can't see them at all on my PS3 (although I can still map the drives on PC and see the files).

Furthermore, On the Media screen in the web based admin, there are many music files listed, but no photo or video files, despite their existence???!!!

Any ideas??

I found that the extension needs to be ALL CAPS, ie, .MP4. This is what finally made movies playable on my Xbox 360. Hope that helps.

First, I read the update note of 1.1.1 and it's not Twonky 4.4.2 but the 4.3 :
- Twonky update to version 4.3

But I have the same problem with Divx. All MP3 is read by my PS3 but not videos.
The reason is that Twonky didn't encode video in a PS3 readable format.

If somebody can help us to read divx over PS3...
I know that PS3 will read Divx one day.. but what for tonight ! :)
