Detecting video file formats for Xbox 360

Post by Taomyn » Wed Dec 05, 2007 9:51 am

How does Twonky decide if a file is suitable as a valid video format for the end client, in particular for the Xbox 360.

Now that the 360 supports DivX/Xvid, yay :D , I started going through my collection to test some out. Everything worked well except for one file which didn't appear in the list of available videos - seems it's an AVI but was annoyingly named as ".MPEG", so I renamed it and it worked.

Does Twonky interrogate the files properly or does it rely just on the extension? If the latter, is there a way to tell Twonky to also include other formats even though it by default they aren't playable on the client, and let me worry about it.
