Twonky 4.4.3 on Lacie Ethernet Big Disk
Hello,
does anyone know a solution to install Twonky 4.4.3 on a lacie ethernet Big Disk. I only found a solution to install the version (i think it was) 4.4.1 but this version does't support streaming divX files to my PS3.
Thanks,

Well, it may be a long wait, the next LaCie firmware will be v1.1.2, which includes TM v4.4.2. It's not until v1.1.3 is released that we'll get v4.4.3. Going by their record of releasing firmware every 6 months or so, we may,if we are lucky get v4.4.3 by September this year. By then, of course, TM will probably be on v4.5.*
Waiting...
Until then I'm using the patches, and apart from ongoing problems saving the settings, it's working for me (mostly).
With the some great help of people on this forum (thanks Caoimhghin!), I finally got it working OK so that I can now stream video through PS3 (music and pictures were always OK).
I get the occasional 'black screen of death' when I try to run a video that requires be to fully reboot everything, but mostly it works.

You just have to love LaCie and their support! Six months to release an old version of Twonky, way to go!jpalo wrote:Ethernet Disk mini v2 (Gigabit) & Ethernet Big Disk Updater v1.1.2 is out! http://www.lacie.com/fi/support/drivers ... m?id=10105

I hope others will do what I've done and ask for an explanation of their apparent disregard for their user base. Certainly encourages you to buy their products in the future, not!
I'm not installing this 'new' update unless I'm convinced that it fixes the problem of regularly loosing my 'Content location' and 'Rescan in minutes' settings, thus having to select all the details again and rescan.
Everything works fine on my current version except that. So I'm not prepare to take the risk.
Am I being overly cautious?

At the end of the day it's your decision, but where's your sense of adventure, I've never know an Aussie without one, guess there's always a first, LOL!
Seriously, I didn't have any problems, you have to install v1.0.10 first to revert to a version before Twonky was installed, then you can apply the LaCie v1.1.2 software. After that you'll need to install the Twonky Admin page so that you have control over the shared folder structure. Functionality wise there's no apparent difference, it's the same version of twonky v4.4.2, so your decision.
If you don't have the old LaCie firmware, take a look at this thread, there's a link to it there.

I'll give it a go and report back. (Don't want to destroy your image of us Aussies!)

I see that LaCie have released another firmware for their Edminiv2 & Big Disc, v1.1.2.1. No comments regarding why it's been released or which version of Twonky is supplied. I guess by the version number it's a small change, just wish they would supply some information as to why it's been released so soon after v1.1.2. It's the same file size by the way.
PS
If you've already installed the original v1.1.2 you cannot install this version.

Re: Twonky 4.4.3 on Lacie Ethernet Big Disk
I just thought I'd let you know that I've just received a reply to my support request from Lacie stating that the new update 1.1.2.1 does not fix the PS3 DivX issues as it does not include a newer version of Twonky but the next update will. There was no indication of when this update would be released!
Also if you are having problems installing 1.1.2.1 over 1.1.2, then apparently you need to first unistall all patches that you have applied first according to Lacie support. But I haven't tried doing this and don't see the point if it still doesn't fix the DivX issues.

Just to let you know that LaCie's latest firmware v1.1.2.1 is the same as v1.1.2 and therefore there is no point in applying this if you already have v1.1.2 installed. According to LaCie the 'newer' version was released as the original had installer issues, though I didn't notice any.
Going by LaCie's track record we can expect the next firmware update to be around September, they seem to do this in six monthly cycles. In the meantime, to get around the DivX support, all you need to do is rename the file extension to 'mpg', I believe there are programs available that will do this as a 'batch' so it wouldn't be too much of a lengthy process if you want to go down this route.

hi, i have a lacie ethernet disk mini 500gb..ive installed the latest firmware..but the lacie cam pre-installed with twonky 4.4.2....it doenst have the right support for my ps3 and no support at all to my phillips was7000.
any one know how to actually update the twonky to at least 4.4.3..the reason why i got the lacie was because i'm a bit of a pc/it numpty and had a go configuring a slug and failed miserably ...so wanted somethig straight out of the "box"
