I've just bought a Qnap mediaserver for movie streaming with my showcenter. I've been trying to stream avi movies with an AC3 encoded soundtrack unfortunately sound doesn't. Does somebody know a way to transcode AC3 soundtrack in a AVI or VOB file ? is it possible to do that on the fly if yes how ?

i dont knw if it is still relevant.
But the showcenter assumes ac4 playback wil only be done trough the digital output.
there is a workarount:
in youre browser type : http://<IP NR of youre showcenter>:2020/set_amx=ON
then on youre showcenter go back to the main menu and hit the B button on youre remote.
you will see a extra option on the configuration schreen to allow digital audio played back on the analog outpt.
change that and save.
now you can reset youre device (the menu option will disapeare but the change is still there)
so now you will be able to listen to the ac3 sound using the analog output.
