Twonky on Asus WL-HDD / Oleg / IPdio : Problem with upnp

Post by Mosley » Mon Apr 21, 2008 9:02 pm

Hi all,

could someone more knowledgeable than I please look through my settings? I've got
Twonky 4.4.4 running, but my upnp Player finds no music. I think I made some mistake in setting up Oleg.

The situation now:
I can access the Twonky web interface (it autoconfigured to port 9000) from a notebook, via WLAN & DHCP.
On the web interface, I see my music on the WL-HDD and am able to download songs.

But my upnp player -- a Reciva based, WLAN only "internet radio", reported to work with Twonky 4.4.4, see
http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4567 --, although it can see the WLAN SSID, and seems
to also find the upnp service, always reports the server to be "empty" (sees no songs).

Hardware:
Asus WL-HDD 2.5 (also known as Yakumo Wireless Storage 60)
A Reciva wireless player/radio, called DNT IPdio mini

Setup:
I followed the readme from Twonky and the sprayfly tutorial:
- Flashed the WL-HDD with the latest Oleg firmware
- mounted its harddisk to /opt/
- used Twonky's windows installer to setup Twonkyvision

There are a lot of options in Oleg that I don't fully understand.
I set up Oleg with these values:

* Wireless > Interface
WIreless Mode: Auto
Authentication: Open System
* Wireless > Bridge
AP Mode: AP only
Connect to APs in Remote List: No
Allow anonymous: No
* IP config > WAN & LAN
WAN connection: static IP
WAN Ip address: 0.0.0.0 (the WL-HDD has no internet connection!)
LAN hostname: "oleg"
LAN IP address: 10.0.0.127
* IP config > SNMP
SNMP: No
* IP config > DHCP
DHCP Pool: 10.0.0.128 - 10.0.0.138
Default Gateway: 10.0.0.127
DNS Server 2: 10.0.0.127
* IP config > Route
Enable Multicast: No
Enable Static routes: No
* IP config > Miscellaneous
Enable UPNP: No (tried both values)
* NAT > Port Trigger, Virtual Server, Virtual DMZ
Enable: No
* Firewall > Basic settings
Enable Firewall: Yes
Respond to (Web, LPR, Ping) from WAN: No
* Firewall > WAN & LAN Filter
Enable LAN to WAN filter: No
Enable WAN to LAN filter: No
* USB Application > FTP server
Enable: Yes
Allow anon: Yes
Allow superuser: No
* USB Application > Samba
Samba Demo mode: No
Enable hidden read-write share: Yes
Workgroup: (my local Windows workgroup)
* USB Application > NFS, Webcam
NFS: no
Webcam: LAN only
* System Setup > Operation Mode
AP or Home Gateway: Home Gateway

Now my setup for the Twonkyserver:
* Basic setup
Sharing: /partition1 (this works correctly, as I can access the songs thru the Web interface)
Clients/Security: Enable sharing for new receivers automatically
Here, I also entered the MAC address of the IPdio player, and chose "Generic Media
Player".

Can you make head or tail of any of this? Any help is welcome!

ciao
MOSLEY

Me asking:

Answer:
In my setup, DNT IPdio mini did not recognize TwonkyMedia as upnp server.
I returned it to the shop and bought a TechniSat InternetRadio 1 instead. It instantly
found the Twonky server on WLAN and offered all its files for playback.

It seems the IPdio mini can not be recommended as a client for Twonky 4.4.4.
Even more so since DNT's support was not too helpful: They promised to
forward my question to chipset manufacturer, Reciva -- which or not they did. No reply.
