How do I reference/mount a network share?

Post by ht354 » Tue Dec 16, 2008 6:49 pm

I have a qnap 101 WITH THE LATEST FIRMWARE. I am running 4.4.5 and have a 500gb internal drive.

Everything works great except that I cannot figure out how to mount a network share that contains other video files I would like to access. I looked at alot of the post here in the forum, but nothing seems clear or restricted to showing how to mount usb1 or esata1.

My variables are:
Qnap IP = 192.168.2.xx1 (server)
Qnap IP = Media Server (server)
Secondary NAS = 192.168.2.xx2 (video storage NAS)
Secondary NAS = Diskstation (video storage NAS)

What or how do these path descriptors work for accesssing my secondary NAS video storage device.
/external = seems to only call a device connected to the Qnap/Twonkyserver
/HDS_DATA should refer to a device outside of the Qnap box?

I have looked at solutions that start with using the "/mnt/" notation, but I am unsure whether to follow with "external" I have also seen the following "/mnt/array1/share/twonky/twonkymedia" used but again it neever seems to connect.

I currewntly have the folowing entered into the the shareing directory field "/mnt/diskstation/video". I would expect that after calling "mnt" that I would specify the location/name of the drive I want to connect to, while the "video" reference is for the folder on the "Diskstation" device.

Please be easy on me . . . I'm not really all that linux/unix savvy.

Thanks in advance
Jeff
