Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Hi,
I have 4.4.6 running on a Buffalo Linkstation Pro with the 1.15 firmware.
glibc is at 2.3.6, system is little endian ARM
I tried the "buffalo linkstation pro" download for unsupported 4.4.11, but unfortinately "twonkymediaserver" exits with "illegal instruction".
Perhaps one of the other zips may work.
Does anyone have the 4.4.11 working on an LS-Pro?

Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
I tried 4.4.11 on my Linkstation Live (same hardware as a Pro I think) and it didn't work. I got the same problems as I had when I tried 4.4.9. Theres a posting in the Mediaserver thread from a Packet Video product manager, which suggests that 4.4.11 has been created to handle TMM licences as people buy them in error. I've now reverted to 4.4.6
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
I tried several of the zips that I hoped might work
twonkymedia-armel-glibc-2.2.5-4.4.11-20090108.zip
twonkymedia-armel-uclibc-0.9.28-4.4.11-20090108.zip
twonkymedia-linkstation-live-4.4.11-20090108.zip
twonkymedia-linkstation-pro-4.4.11-20090108.zip
twonkymedia-nslu2-4.4.11-20090108.zip
twonkymedia-terastation-pro-v2-arm-4.4.11-20090108.zip
but none do. Most have the same error as the proper version, some have missing libs (ulibc), others are clearly wrong endian/architecture.
I also tried both a manual install/upgrade & also got the proper nas installer to work
In all cases same error -
4.4.6 works ok -- it's just I'd noticed some bug fixes for inotify (ie updating files on the nas) and the iTunes plugin.
Compressed Excerpt from the release notes:
What's new in Version 4.4.11
- inotify follows symbolic links, if followlinks=1
What's new in Version 4.4.10
- devices TEAC WAP-4500 and WAP-8500 supported
- no timebased seek for WMVMED_BASE
- cgi-jpegscale improved
- fixed handling of bad inotify events
What's new in Version 4.4.9
- no timebased seek for WMVMED_BASE
- cgi-jpegscale improved
- fixed handling of bad inotify events
- fixed Itunes import plugin
- fixed client database not detecting some clients
What's new in Version 4.4.8
- fixed broken utf8 support in ini file parser
- merged the two PS3 client adaptation settings into one
What's new in Version 4.4.7
- fixed DLNA_QoS for non-DLNA-1.5 clients
- now accepts also folder.jpg (all lower case)

Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Downloaded v5 at http://www.twonkyforum.com/unsupported/5.0.44 -- whilst it started fine
a) The config menus didn't render correctly
b) Once the server got to ~10000 files it crashed, and repeated... over and over.
So 4.4.6 remains the best so far.

Hi MikeIsotech!
How did you reverted to 4.4.6.? I recently updated to v5 and i am disappointed.
I want to go back to a previos version but i can't find any download link for linkstation nas installation, just for 4.4.11.
Greetz,
Mr.BooK

Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Hi I keep a copy of all of the versions that I try - so I had something locally to let me roll back to 4.4.6. I don't know if you can send me a PM and we can discuss what we can do.
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
I found a hack to get 4.4.11 to startup on the my Terastation Live. Warning: This is a complete hack.
Startup twonky (/etc/init.d/twonky start). It should go in a loop of defunct twonkymediaserver processes. That's fine.
Run:
/usr/local/sbin/mt-daapd
Then run:
/bin/nice -n 1 /usr/mediaserver/mediaserver
Wait about 15 seconds or so. Once it starts indexing your media, wait a second or two and kill it.
If you then check, twonkymediaserver is now running.
You can then kill mt-daapd as well.
Not quite sure how to script all that or why it works or any of that. Definitely a complete hack.

Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Actually, mt-daapd isn't needed. Start twonky. Start mediaserver, wait a bit, ctrl-c mediaserver. Twonky is running.

Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Bizarre - it work with my Linkstation Live too. I now have 4.4.11 running happily. The process that you start and then kill is the mediabolic music server that cam installed on my Live box. Must some kind of weird interaction between the two server processes
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Could somebody PM me I need a copy of 4.4.9 or 4.4.11 for linkstation live
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Hi I´m new and not that firm in Linux or Telnet.
Could you please give a short guide how to make the Twonky work. I don´t know, what you mean with CTRL-C mediaserv.
I have a Linkstation Live with FW 1.06. All Twonky Versions accept 4.4.6 are not running. But my Key is not working with 4.4.6. When I install the Twonky it all seems good. Searching for the files. I can access the Web Interface and can see the Files. When I switch it off and connect it to my Router to have it on my WLAN it starts bad. A few minutes it is running than not after a few hours it is running than not and so on ... Any Ideas.

Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
I had similar problems after upgrading from 4.4.6. I found with version 4.4.11 you need to be running the built in PCast DLNA server as well for twonky to work properly
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
OK, I heard this for the first time. But I will try. THX. All the others say to stop the intern Media Server. But every hint is usefull ...
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Also I think the install paths are different for 4.4.11. When I changed from 4.4.6 after rebooting the linkstation it was trying to start the old version 4.4.6. Had to modify the rcS file with vi to the correct path for 4.4.11
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Yes, that´s what I saw yesterday. When I started twonky from the console. It started 4.4.11. But this Version fails to start. In TOP it´s always the status "Z". For a few seconds "R" and then "Z" again ...
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
GREAT ! Now it´s running perfectly ! It´s the easy trick to keep the PCast running. THX
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
Now a TIP to use Playlists. Version 4.4.11 is not able to read Playlists with extra Informations. Just the path to the file should be listed. So just open with Editor and see what informations are in there. I found a tool where you can create m3u´s with just the path to the files and that works with 4.4.11. I tested MM5 but that Version has problems with large number of files. At about 10.000 files the MM5 will crash. So I went back to 4.4.11. Heard about a V. 4.4.14 but did not test it. If somebody reports ...?
Re: Buffalo Linkstation Pro & 4.4.11
So the fix in this post to run then kill mediaserver (PCast) is fine for Live owners but what about LS Pro owners? We don't have mediaserver available on our NAS.
Can a Live owner have a look at the processes running:
1) After running twonkymediaserver but while it is still spawning zombie processes.
2) After then starting mediaserver
3) After then killing mediaserver
I suspect starting mediaserver is causing another process to start which is left running after mediaserver is killed.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.
