Transcoding 3gp to avi for PS3 (Linkstation LS2)

Post by drgreenway » Sat Jan 31, 2009 10:02 pm

Hi all,

I've recently installed TwonkyMedia server 4.4 onto my Debian Etch Freelink LS2 Linkstation, and it works great. My only problem so far is that I have lots of mobile phone videos that I would like to be able to view on the PS3 along with video from my camera and camcorder. Obviously the former are all in 3gpp format.

I've hunted for some definitive advice on how to setup transcoding, but the only article I've seen suggested I just need the right files to extract into cgi-bin. My next problem is finding the right plugin. I have read that Twonky have stopped all support for this method of transcoding, so I need some help.

Does anyone know where I can find a mipsel based version of lame or ffmpeg that will work this way? I'd need some hints on how to install it and where to put it, but I'm learning this *nix game at a rate of knots now!!

Many thanks,
Mike
