Has anyone tried transcoding with VLC on a Linkstation Live?

Hi
I want to try out on-the-fly transcoding on my Linkstation Live with Twonky MS v5.065. I went to download VLC but I'm not sure if there is a compatible linux build for the Linkstation Live. I'm using the standard Buffalo linux build. Can anyone advise if any of the pre-compiled VLC versions will work or will I have to create my own image?
