Thecus N3200

Hi,
I have kind of taken over the Thecus N3200 module as it has been inactive for a while. I have been successful in getting 3 different 4.x builds working on my N3200 recently but am having problems with the 5.0.x and 5.1 builds.
The original Thecus module that I installed, worked out of the box for me with no configuration needed. I never even bothered to check the Twonky config to be honest. So I didn't even realise that I should have probably bought and entered a licence key. I guess I assumed that it would stop working at some point if I needed a key.
I tried out 5.0.68 at the weekend and although it started out fine, the database is not saved when I restart the NAS. It also didn't save any other settings like server name.
Is this something I now need a key for, or is it possibly running out of space and therefore I need to move the db file to the raid rather than on the OS partition? I don't really want to buy a key for something that is not going to work on my NAS.
I tried 5.1 briefly but that was a non-starter for me. The web interface was very slow to load and again the settings could not be saved.
Any help appreciated, thanks
