Twonky Web Client only works when NASSETUP is running(!?)

Post by Gryff » Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:03 am

I have an interesting problem here. I have a Buffalo Livestation XHL NAS that I have installed open firmware 1.31 on and then installed twonkyserver 6.something (latest one) using their NASSETUP program. It installs fine, and initially allows me to use the web client to change settings etc, but whenever I went back to the web client later on to adjust things I would just get a page not found error.

It took me a few uninstalls and installs to work out what was happening but it seems that after the install the web client works fine until I close the NASSETUP program. I have tested this over a few minutes to leaving it open for half an hour, with it being all good until I close it. The actual twonky server itself seems to be working fine through, in that it is serving videos to my PS3 with no issues.

I am a *nix newbie so any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have discovered more information about this now. I was incorrect in saying the media server still worked, it was the base media server of the Linkstation that was confusing me. It seems that the twonkymedia process that is started by the NASSETUP program only persists until it shuts down. I can get similar behaviour when I log into putty and run the process manually. I have not been successful in getting it to start automatically when the server reboots.
