MP3s on a Kodak Picture frame

Post by quidam » Thu Jul 19, 2007 2:17 am

Kodak EX1011..., TMv4.4 on uNSLUng...

Only Photo and Video folders show up on the Kodak frame.

The Audio folder does not appear. No MP3s show up.

None of the videos play,... all error with "media format not supported". I have a variety of files there AVI, MP4, SVCD, DVD, but no filenames\data appear with the icons, so I can't tell which files is which!!!

Does the Kodak frame require transcoding of audio\video by the media server?

The Photos are viewable\navicable.

Help.

The Kodak picture frame has a separate button on the remote for music (the musical note button) that brings up the music search features.

So the "home" button provides access to pix and vids, but the "music note" button goes to navigating audio. MP3s list\play.

Videos don't play, and there's no way I can see to distinquish one file from another unless each file were to go into its own subdir named with the name of the video. Sheeeesh!

Welcome to the World of Kodak, where nothing works the way it should. I spent over an hour on the phone with an "advanced" tech support person, and all he could do is parrot what the lame manual said: MOV, AVI, MPG, MPEG...I have tried numerous different encryption schemes, different bit rate, different frame rates, different resolutions, different file types, and none of them seem to work.

I've read reviews that tout the device's video capability, yet for the life of me, I can't get it to work.

Yes, thanks, I upgraded the f/w. Made the online gallery much better, but other than that, I don't notice much difference.
