Just updated the PS3 to the new DIVX certified firmware.
All my divx files are coming up as unsupported data over Twonky 4.4 Stable.

I can confirm this, I also tried the latest beta (4.4.3 RC2) and it also showed up as unsupported media..
Here is what appears in the log file when I try to open a list of Divx/Xvid files:
*hopes this gets addressed before trial expires*

- AV Hardware:TwonkyMedia AV UPnP Mediaserver (Marvell Kirkwood ARM Sheevaplug with Debian Squeeze).
2x Noxon V2 audio client
1x PS3 Slim 500GB Audio/Video UPnP client.
1x Sony VGF-CP1 Wireless Photoframe. - Location:UK
Same results here.
I have 2 media files, 1x XVid and 1x DivX, both play from memory card locally, but do not stream via Twonky.
The test WMV I used however worked locally, and streamed fine from Twonky.
Perhaps we need a new RC with PS3 DivX/Xvid support (pretty please...)

yup nothing here either
Nothing from a mac trying to stream Xvid /DivX on Beta 2 (not RC2)
Re: yup nothing here either
Same on my linkstation pro
tried setting it to a generic media server for the ps3 in twonky no dice

We can probably fix this ourselves, I imagine it just requires a modification to the client.db entry for the PS3 to reflect the new video types the PS3 can now support. If I add .avi and .wmv to the MT:mpeg,mpeg2,vdr,spts,tp,ts video/mpeg line the files show up in the PS3 interface, but error play. So I guess it is just a case of using the right info. So help Twonky please????

I am at work so I cant try it but yer trying to tell the PS3 that the divx file is a mpeg.. you could try adding another line like:cliffa wrote:We can probably fix this ourselves, I imagine it just requires a modification to the client.db entry for the PS3 to reflect the new video types the PS3 can now support. Apparently streaming divx works with TVersity, maybe someone can see what kind of mime info that streams to the PS3?
I tried every variation I could think of, video/avi, video/divx, video/x-divx, x-ms-avi, x-msvideo, msvideo, etc etc etc....but didnt work.
Edit: wmv works fine for me (shows up as vc-1), i didnt have to change anything for that to show up.

Apparently, it's not just Twonky that's affected, I read elsewhere that it affects other media streamers (with the exception of WMP11 which apperntly works fine).
So with any luck, we'll get firmware 2.11 to fix it!
It's not like we've lost any functionality (we couldn't stream Divx files before the update, now we still can't), it's just annoying that we were expecting to be able to but can't.
UPDATE: Someone I know uses MediaTomb to stream their files, and it was a config issue related to MIME types (see here), so it sounds like Dreadlock's solution above might just work...

Do we know if Twonky also requires the database to be rebuilt like MediaTomb after making the MIME type changes in the client.db?
I tried MT:avi video/x-divx without success, but I didn't rebuild database, only just restarted server. I'm not at home now to be able to retry.
I would suspect it shouldn't by virtue of the fact that is possible to define different MT settings for different devices.
Unfortunately it is looking like WMP sharing behavior is the the one to follow now much as it pains me to say it - how long before we see an affordable NAS solution that can run WMP sharing? - No one suggest WHS

I tried
MT:avi video/x-divx
,
MT:avi video/avi
and
MT:avi,divx video/mp4
without rebuilding database, only restarted the server (v4.4.2) and it didn't work, I'll try with rebuilding the database.
EDIT :
I tried with
MT:avi video/x-divx
and rebuilding the database, but it didn't work and that don't surprise me. If it would be so simple christian would have fixed it in 4.4.3RC3.

Excluding the DivX problems, I've noticed that with WMV, if the audio codec used is WMA10 (5.1ch) then there is no sound. If the audio codec is WMA9.2 (stereo) then you'll have sound. This is not just a streaming issue, it occurs from external USB devices as well.
Slightly off topic, is anyone else having problems streaming WMA files? I've noticed the music will play for a few seconds then crash back to the XMB. I've telephoned Sony support, but they don't seem aware of any problems, nothing new there then!

DivX and PS3 is working fine here. It plays about 90% of my files, and what is does not play, also do not play locally one the PS3 (so it's a PS3 issue). I read somewhere, you can't use deblocking options in XVids, and DivX 3.11 is also not supported, so I think this is my 10% of DivX and Xvid..

Lacie does not have anything on their site
Thanks
Today I received patch 4.4.4 of Twonky for the Lacie. Finally my divx streams to the PS3!
Contact support through the system on their website to get a copy.
Cheers,
