What system/configuration have you tested this with to say DivX is supported for PS3? It is not working for me on Linkstation PPC NAS. If you have some guidelines we need to follow for this to work, please can you post them here.
Oh and is there any way for us to configure things such that Music Video and Pictures does not show up as a top level folder under each entry on the PS3
Thanks

Dear TwonkyMedia Team
Hmm, I am really sorry to say, but... OK, no comments.
Go here: http://www.twonkyforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... highlight=
...and read what media are displayed and played by TwonkyMedia 4.4.3 for PS3 client.
Is it really hard to include in TwonkyMedia Server those (below) media support for PS3 and X360?
- TIFF, BMP, GIF, PNG - these are only pictures formats, so what is the problem and difference between those 4 formats and JPG (supported)?
- MP4 (MPEG-4 AAC), WAVE (Linear PCM) - these are only audio formats, so what is the problem and difference between those 2 formats and MP3, WMA (supported)?
- MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3 (Dolby Digital), LPCM); MPEG-2 TS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2); AVI (Motion JPEG (Linear PCM), Motion JPEG (Law)); DivX - these are only video formats, so what is the problem and difference between those 4 formats and MP4, MPEG-1, WMV (VC-1) (supported)?
I wish you good luck, because your success are ours.

I tried the 4.4.3 trial on Windows XP SP2 & Windows 2003 SP1, but my DivX/XviD files still show up as 'Unsupported Data' on the PS3. WMV/VC-1 works great though!
I hope this gets fixed. Twonky works better than anything else I've tried. My credit card is ready to buy a license the second the DivX issue is resolved

Twonky 4.4.3 Issues
Server: Maxtor Shared Storage Plus with Twonky 4.4.3
Client: XBOX 360
- Divx/XviD does not work.
- Cover art for video files (ie separate jpeg named the same as the video file) does not work.
- Cannot add levels in the Music Tree.
- Cannot delete nodes in the Music Tree.
- Cannot add nodes in the Music Tree.
- Simple navigation in the Music Tree has two Folder Nodes.
Divx/XviD worked with Twonky 4.4.2, I don't see why it doesn't work now. I haven't tried configuring the Picture and Video tree, I just left the default options but I think they will have the same problems at the Music tree. Hopefully these issues can be fixed or I will have to go back to 4.4.2 so I can view Divx/XviD.

PS3 with TV 4.4.3 running under SuSE Linux 10.1
Here are my findings:
Video:
- No DIVX (Unsupported data)
- So far all of my mp4 and mpeg videos stream and play
- Tags and cover art in some mp4 files now work (won't display in 4.4.2)
Pictures:
- Tags from EXIF are read and displayed correctly (new feature)
- Titles from EXIF aren't read and displayed anymore (worked fine in 4.4.2)
Music:
- mp3 cover art works (like in 4.4.2., broken in 4.4.3RC4)
All in all I think I can use 4.4.3 without really losing functionality against 4.4.2. BUT being with 4.4.3 from Beta2 to RC4 I must say that I do not see any real advantage using 4.4.3 against 4.4.2.
@Christian: I really do not understand how you can state that DIVX on PS3 is working while there seems to be no one out there get it running! Please fix this, but please have Merry X-mas holidays first and get yourself some rest
Regards
ThyMaster

Dear Members
I cannot get it, how somebody may release software that is not working, is not tested, and not even fixed issues from Beta Testers opinions.
May someone explain it to me.
There were lots of issues described in RC4, lots of users described them.
And we got final version of 4.4.3 with those issues. I don't get it.

Dear Christian
First of all, I am new here, nice to met you - one of those people, who are responsible for TwonkyMedia Server - very good job, but it should be better, because you are very good.
2. DivX still is not working right, but you will fix it.
3. Please, pretty please, support PS3 clients with .png, .tiff and .wav - only those 3 formats at the moment, before Christmas.
And more it's a pleasure to met you. Regards.

1. "Album" type in nodes is no longer exists, why? Now we have double "Folder" type. Please fix it.twonky-christian wrote: Are there other issues found ?

I also updated the trial version to 4.4.3 and have the same problem with the PS3 not recognising and divx files. But even more annoying is the fact that with 4.4.2 the Xbox streamed everything fine, now with 4.4.3 it sees the server but says I have no video/music/photo files on the drive (Mac and PC see them fine).
Any ideas.

just one quick qustions to everyone who says DivX not working:
What is the file extension you are using
avi or divx ?
Thanks

my concern, is that whilst .divx is certainly a divx file, an .avi could be many things. Surely detecting based on file type is a bad thing to do...

Still no Album in music tree
Thanks for the update Christian. There is still the problem of not having Album available in the music tree.
Album art does not work at all now

Hi Christian,
thanks for the update...
It fixed all the issues
I am using DNS-323 NAS running Twonky clients PS3 and XBox 360
I confirm it works... Divx playable everywhere..
The folder problem is due to a typo...
If you look into Music Tree in the configuration page Music Node 3 defaults to Folder instead of Album
I tried to change it but it doesn't save the value...
Must be within the config files...
Any hints?

Also confirm Album Art no longer works on PS3. It may be because my Music tree is set to Music only, but this was always the existing configuration, and it always worked in the past.

Something changed with PS3 2.10 as well. When I added new music, it would not show album art, but existing tracks did. I rebuilt the database, now they all have the same problem. There is album art when you play music, but then go back to XMB with the PS button, pick a different album, you will see art in the track list, but not when actually playing the track. This is with 4.4.2.
Dear Christian
1. Please fix no "Album" type in Music, 2x"Folder" type
2. Please add support for .png, .tiff, .gif, .bmp and .wave media formats - they are basic image and audio extensions supported by PS3

Ok, as far as i can see, it seems that this Problem i have, is maybe very specific for my combination of OS, Platform and Client, and i uderstand that this may not have top Priority.
So, i've reinstalled 4.4.3 again, turned on all loggin ( except scan, as i've waited for the completition of the scan before i fired up the DSM-320 ) and also created a stack-trace of the hanging process.
If anyone from twonky is interested, just let me know where to send it to, if it may help you to fix this. It defnetly don't happen with 4.4.3-b2.
Or if you need other logs or traces or tests i can run, just let me know.
I don't want to put any pressure on this, as i can imagine that all of you may look forward to get some rest and like to enjoy the upcoming hollidays just like me, and i still can live with b2 for a while.
So, merry Christmas to all of you and a happy new Year.

Still facing the same Issues like in RC4. Server freezes as soon as i turn on my DSM-320.
This wasn't in B2.
Downgrade again to B2.
I'm glad to have 10.5 with TimeMachine. Makes thes downgrades so much easier.
netgear readynas not rev'd to 4.4.3.1?
the readynas version appears to only be 4.4.3 (even though the file says 4.4.0) as divx to ps3 does not appear to be working -- same unsupported data error.
TwonkyMedia 4.4.3.1 & Maxtor Shared storage II
Hey Christian,
Thanks for the update I really appreciate it as half of my media collection is Xvid/DivX and therefore was out of bounds for a long time...
The Problem is that the server keeps restarting the scan every 60 seconds or so logging it out from the PS3 even though it is set to scan only once a day, this database rebuilding keeps the drives running constantly.
I'm not sure but when it does scan it doesn't seem to find media on the 2 usb external drives attatched to my MSS II, maybe this is the problem?
Also the memory usage only seems to get to a certain amount before sticking and then reseting although the amount has varied from attempt to attempt after resetting to defaults it has never reached the 6000kb approx that it was at with 4.4.2.
Is there any chance of fixing this as 60 sec is not even long enough to download the file for local viewing
I Had to revert back to 4.4.2 before I killed my drives
Log files will be supplied upon request

With a fresh install of 4.4.3.1 TwonkyMedia crashes while it adds some images to the db, here is an example :

thank you very much for this update!!
My system: PS3 with TV 4.4.3.1 on SuSE Linux 10.1
Tested all my DIVX/XVID files and they now stream fine!
BUT:
- You killed cover art in all of my mp3 files (been an issue with 4.4.3RC3 and RC4 and was fixed on 4.4.3)
- Even worse, quite a lot of my mp3 files won't play anymore!!
It appears PS3 loads them half-way but then "decides" not to play them and call them defect data!
Minor issue:
- All AVI files have no codec detected on PS3
Please fix the mp3 issue, since it was working fine in 4.4.3, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
Thanks again

Frankly, I do not really use my PS3 for listening to music (400W+ power consumption is a bit hefty compared to my 4 Watts Roku Soundbridge...).
Have nice holidays.

P.S.: While we're at it: Please re-enable cover art for video files if possible

I just installed this release and while reconfiguring the server in Safari the server "quit unexpectedly". It had been running for maybe five minutes at this point. I chose to relaunch and it happened again. I chose to ignore and it happened again. I kept getting prompted about it until I went into Activity Monitor and force quit "twonkymedia". I launched the server app again and the same thing happened.
What's happening?

In most of the cases, Picture Scanning is causing the crashes. Try to disable Picture sharing, and you can maybe use all other features.Kahnyl wrote:I just installed this release and while reconfiguring the server in Safari the server "quit unexpectedly". I have just upgraded my PS3 to 2.1 but realised that's not sufficient as my Twonkymedia (in my maxtor shared plus) is still running on 4.4.2 which is running great except for the divx support.
based on the feedback, it looks like I have to hold back the 4.4.3.1 upgrade as I need twonky to stream all my MP3 and photos to my TV via my PS3. Is that correct?

no
was unable to get the image
please send it to support@twonkyvision.com
for all:
if the server crashes on scanning:
1) turn on logging for the file scanner
2) hit rebuild database
3) open the log and look at the last line
it will say something like adding....
the file there is crashing the server
Please remove it for now from the shared content - and if possible please
send it in to support@twonkymedia.com
thanks
