Video Tree Problems

Post by andymacj » Wed Jan 09, 2008 9:15 pm

Hi,
I've just got a DSM-510 and found that TwonkyMedia works best of the products that I've tried. However, I'm having problems in that I have shared my video files out no problem and can see them on the DSM-510 under "All" but how do I configure either Twonky or the DSM-510 to use my folder hierarchy, e.g.;

Video\Programme\Series ?
Episode 1
Episode 2
Episode 3

etc.

thanks,
Andy

hi
i've got a similar problem. my videos are in a heirarchy

videos->tv->series_name->series_number->episode_number

but none of my videos are identified.

all my music and snaps are found.

I'm at a loss on this one.

Anyone got video to work on 4.4.3.1 if so how?

For me, I think the problem is that if I use the Video button the DSM510 then it tries to be clever and finds all videos etc., If howeve,r I go in via the server button route, then by selecting the Folder option (first folder option, not the second one !) in TwonkyMedia server then it then gives me my file structure hierarchy.

So I'm still not 100% sure if the problem is because the DSM510 handles things in a bizzare way to try and "help" organise my media or if Twonky doens't send out the right info to it.

cheers
Andy

I am having the same problem. To be specific, this problem also exists using a Playstation 3 to access the Twonky Server. It sounds more like a memory buffer size or directory listings size in the database than anything else as recreating the database does not seem to fix the problem. It could be that the application will only support a limited number of directory listings but will support listing the files.

My directories are set up as follows:

E:\Downloads
...Videos - TV Series
...Show 1 - Season 1
...Show 2 - Season 2
...Videos - Adult Hentia
...Videos - Adult Live Action

Has anyone tried putting all sub-directories in the root of a drive and sharing it to see if that fixes the problem?

Example:
E:\
Show 1 - Season 1
Show 1 - Season 2
Videos - Adult Hentia
Videos - Adult Live Action

Let's see if I can help any one this one:

I have Twonky's Video Tree set like this:
Video Node 1 - Folder
Video Node 2 - Date Added (2 points off of that - year & date)
Navigation Tree Setup - Custom

I have 4 storage drives. All drives have the subfolders directly in the root. When I added them to the sharing, I just added the roots (n:\, o:\, etc).
n:\Action
n:\Comedy
n:\Drama
n:\tv
o:\Comedy
o:\Drama
o:\Western
p:\Western
p:\TV
etc

When browsing by folder, I get something like this:
Action
Comedy
Drama
TV
Western

Twonky "merges" folders with the same name, so I only see each category once, but with all videos inside of them. I also have some of the categories broken down, such as tv shows/series type of deal, and they show up perfect.
