-1 Rescan Support

Post by Mike23 » Wed Oct 10, 2007 6:00 am

Hello. I have installed Twonky on my Ubuntu Linux desktop computer, which is always on, and it is pretty powerful. However, one issue I have is with setting rescan to -1. If I do, save, and restart, it goes back to 60 minutes.

Currently, I have set it to "1" minute. Is setting it to one minute bad? Also, how can I get the -1 to work? I though that issue only existed on NAS drives. I have Twonky 4.4 and no clients.

I have been trying clients and returning them. I tried the EVA8000 and the DSM-520. Both have a lot of issues playing XviD files. It seems that music players have hit prime time, though. But I am concerned with the lack of native FLAC and Ogg support. But with the transcoder, I could get by with FLAC, and I don't have any Ogg files.

I see the same thing on my Linux Twonky 4.4.2. Setting to -1 goes back to 60. I wouldn't set it to 1. How often do you add content to your library? I have mine set to 1440. Once a day is fine for me.

If you try to use -1 with a kernel lower than 2.6.12.x (x can't remember the exact level) it is not supported, -1 does some kind kernel query that can't be handled with lower level. I have mine set to 0 and when I download something new I just do a manual scan.... Hope this helps.

Ubuntu Feisty has 2.6.20 kernel version, so that cannot be the reason.

Twonky (unforutunatly) implements a deprecated version of inotify API
