Does this release any of the Xbox 360 issues?
Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
Yes. For me, it works like a charm. 5.0.46 compatibility with the xbox 360 seems to be as good as with 4.4.9, at least as far as I checked...Mastiha wrote:Does this release any of the Xbox 360 issues?

I haven't recieved a change log for 5.0.46. If I do, I'll post it here.
If you can me e-mail details about your Roku problem, I'll make sure a ticket gets created for it immediately.
Send them to me at tmm-beta@pv.com. Thanks.

Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
This update seems to have stopped crashing Windows Media Player (Running on Vista 64).
It still doesn't show my PS3 in the recognised clients list though. The Windows Media Player automatically populated itself, but it was doing that before the update.
Am I supposed to be able to populate that list manually somehow?

Thats a known issue, It does the same for me. I believe there are some fies in the 5.0.47 to address this.

The PS3 not being automatically detected, or not being able to manually populate the list of receivers?

Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
Both problems are related, as is the lack of album art on PS3 at the moment, as because Twonky does not know it's serving to a PS3, it does not do the right things. The problem has been acknowledged, and a fix is arriving soon, I have been told...MrQuade wrote:Which is a known issue?mgillespie wrote: Thats a known issue, It does the same for me. I

Does this fix the issue I have with my PS3 where it's showing 2 copies of most files in my library? Also leaving out vob files with a lowercase extension!
4.4.9 didn't do it. Should I force a rescan?
Cheers,
Paul.

Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
I am having the same problem with my Xbox 360. But it doesn't seems to be the client's fault. The status page of Twonky lists the double amount of files it should. Rebuilding the database/rescanning fixes the problem. I am running TMS under windows vista and the issue arises not all the time but rather occasionally after a (re)boot of the PC.
Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
There also appears to be no way to stop it doing it's initial scan which is stupid.
My music directory contains 20k+ tracks and version 5 can't cope with it and crashes. But because it defaults to my music on startup it attempts a scan and crashes out meaning I can't change the paths as I don't want music scanning anyways.
Is this solved in the next release??
As far as I'm concerned this release is buggy as hell compared to 4.4.9.

Kinda what I was afraid of. Meanwhile, the PS3 Media Server is kicking arse left and right. I say it's really rather sad that TwonkyVision has left a once so flourishing product bleed to death so carelessly.probedb wrote:There also appears to be no way to stop it doing it's initial scan which is stupid.

If you are an OSX user, don't touch this.
I've been a happy 4.X.X for years and made a big mistake by paying to upgrade this afternoon.
All my old setting were wiped out and the server is truly unreliable. Crashes constantly, unreliable database builds, and the tree features seem to have disappeared. My controller setups are know useless.
I had to revert to 4.4.11.
Save your money!!!!

I think it's an appalling way to treat existing customers, especially since they'll lose them all because of crap treatment.meimeiriver wrote:Kinda what I was afraid of. I did figure out how to stop the scan....basically editing the preferences file it generates and deleting everything in the database directory it creates.

Indeed. Notice how they editted out the name of a competing (free!) product I mentioned in my post? Well, newsflash, that's not gonna stop folks from using a different program. Making a better product, however, might. And providing adequate support. For starters, add a frakkin' changelog to the releases, like the rest of the world does with its software.probedb wrote:

is there NAS build?
Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
yes, my question, too... will thre be nas-versions!? (Synology DS-107+). If not - how to install the linux builds on the nas?is there NAS build?

Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
I just had 4.4.11 applied and now I see 5.0.46 for my maxtor plus is available but require a license key. is there a way to trial it w/o purchasing the key?
otherwise, what's the difference between 5.0.46 versus 4.4.11, as I want to make sure I buy the license for a version that works for me. 4.4.11 finally fix alot of problems for me, and I don't want to get 5.0.46 that breaks some of these features (happen in some previous releases)
thanks.

If you bought 4 fairly recently email twonky support and they should upgrade the key for you. They did with mine.

No probs Just remember other than that you'll get no support from Twonky on this product....as you can probably tell from the amount of complaints on this forum.zenkinz wrote:thanks, looks like I'm on my way to the purchase!probedb wrote:If you bought 4 fairly recently email twonky support and they should upgrade the key for you. Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
I have changed from TwonkyMediaServer 4.4.2 to TwonkyMediaServer 5.0.46.
In version 4.4.2 I have had a menu named "Internet Radio". In Version 5.0.46 this point has gone.
But where ?

Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 is available for download
Something more has gone in 5.0.46 - the possibility to customize "Navigation tree" is not available... So no way to change / customize the tree and order (!) that appears on the client devices..

If you look at the rest of the forum you'll see how little they care about users of this product, I don't know how they have the nerve to suggest people upgrade to their latest product.

I can't believe one removed the custom tree / navigation tree option which was a great mean to customize menus the way we need. I understand the need to simplify the configuration process, but PV could have simplified this without removing that option by keeping it as an option. Difficult to follow the logic.

TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 on Synology DS107+
Synology DS107+ NAS Version 5.0.46 has a main bug; the database gets totally confused - many songs mixed in other albums It drove me crazy. Try to fix with rebuild db but no luck. Even browsing in "Albums", "Directory" with the Twonky Media (included) Media Browser same effect
Go back to 4.4.11 - That issue I never had in any Version since 3.x !! Terrible...And now!?

What does mean, that these NAS-versions are generally not supported!? No change of getting a working version!? And now!? Paying for a new Twonky Server 5.x version (I did an upgrade for 9$) without any support?Quote :
These versions are provided as an unsupported version of TwonkyMedia as is.

It was published many months ago as a 5.0b (5.0 beta), I did not face any bug with it (ReadyNas Duo).
Re: TwonkyMedia server 5.0.46 on Synology DS107+
you know what, this is one issue (other than compatibility issue with my PS3 which has seemed resolved by 4.4.11) that had me thinking whether I should go ahead to purchase the license.mikle_01 wrote:What does mean, that these NAS-versions are generally not supported!? I would think the zero support should be applicable to just installation and setup, since these are NAS specific and Twonkymedia may not be able to test/validate the installation script for every new NAS in the market. However, I would assume that once it's properly installed, and the media files can be streamed to one of the media client like PS3, any problem is most likely due to the TMS itself, rather than the NAS. I wonder why then it's not supported, and if so, why would one pay a full license for a product that doesn't have any after sales support?
I'm waiting for Twonkymedia's response via email, and I hope they could respond (it's a few days since I last emailed them)

I'm not one for writing nasty messages, but as a newcomer to this list, I am appalled at the number of dead-end threads. Lots of people asking questions and very few answers. Twonky would do well to throw us a few bones once in a while.

To be fair most of the people asking questions don't exactly help themselves, they rarely even bother to mention what OS, let alone any other details.dphigby wrote:

There is a sticky on what info to submit if posters want a better chance of getting a post answered, but if they can't be bothered to read that, then you can hardly blame anyone else not taking the time to respond...
Also bear in mind there are so many configurations, it's simply not possible to help everyone. I don't own a NAS or a Mac, so I leave the NAS and MAC posts well alone.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, these forums are end-user to end-user support, it's NOT an official support channel, you can't simply post a message here and expect someone from Twonky to come along and read it, thats not how it happens. For official support, there are official support channels.
Locking this thread anyway, as a) this is off topic, and b) 5.0.46 has now been superseded by 5.0.61, don't want old theads being bumped.
