Licence and settings lost on NAS reboot

Post by Sabrerain » Wed Jan 21, 2009 5:22 pm

Hi

I am using twonky 4.4.11 on a Buffalo Linkstation Live. When ever I reboot the NAS it loses the Licence key and settings

(Navigation, share, name etc) this has been happening since 4.4 but was persevering until next release. No its here the problem remains

Does anybody know how I can set it so it does not lose this information, its starting to get annoying now

Thanks for any help in advance

I have had no reply to this post, but I know other I having issue.

Is there a way I could change the attributes of the Twonky config file to read only, thus keeping the settings?

Does this seem like a sensible approach ?

I had similar problems, and worked-around as follows: Check your router and see which site Twonky is phoning'home to, block that site and delete the twonkymedia.ini (maybe called twonkyserver?) file.

oh, so you think it is the router causing the reset of the twonkyvision-mediasever.ini file ?

strange how do I check what site my twonky is looking to block ?

Ok what I have done so far, I have made the twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini immutable by

# chattr +i twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini

After 3 reboots and 1 shut-down cold restart the file remains untouched with all settings intact.

I will test it with the Xbox 360 later and report my findings

The above fix has done the trick, all Licence details and config settings are saved. Connect to XBox is spot on even after serveral reboots, and an overnight shutdown.

Finally happy.

I know this is an old post, but I don't know much about modifying the settings and such as was described earlier. I too keep loosing my settings with a server reboot.

Anyone out there that can walk me through some "baby steps" to get this file modified as described above :D

Greatly appreciated!
