Hello,
i always get a zombie proccess after starting the media server. (TwonkyMedia server 5.x)
On an Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Linux server.
root 4704 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 18:03 0:00 [mediafusion-int] <defunct>
after that, it doesnt update the database anymore.
After an manual start it creats a logfile in /tmp/TwonkyMediaServer-log.txt

The Mediafusion zombie is a know issue (it's mentioned in the release notes)
"MediaFusion plugin leaves a zombie process on Linux (but will be removed on next MF plugin start)"
I don't think it's related to your problems....
