iTunes Navigation Tree on QNAP 209 ProII

Post by starlir » Wed Sep 09, 2009 10:23 pm

I have just got a QNAP 209 Pro II with the intention of using it to stream music to a DLNA Hi Fi unit (Naim Uniti) from an iTunes library (containing WAV files) stored on the 209. The 209 is at Firmware 3.1.0 Build 0708T and therefor Twonky Media server is at 4.4.17. The problem I have is that I cannot get a proper Advanced, Simple or Custom Navigation tree generated. The iTunes library is stored in /Qmultimedia/iTunes/iTunes Music and I have set the parameter in Twonky's External Applications setting to point to the /Qmultimedia/iTunes/iTunes Library.xml file. The Naim Uniti can see all the iTunes content when accessed via the Folder view but if I try Artist, Genre, Album etc I just see -ALL- and -UNKNOWN-. If I create a playlist then that displays correctly. If I set logging on I can see the itunes-import.plugin load the iTunes Library.xml successfully and each track in the library is scanned. iTunes is at v8.2.1 and hosted on a Mac at OS X 10.6. If I Telnet to the QNAP I can see that the #Itunes Library File parameter in the twonkyvision-mediaserver.ini file in /mnt/HDA_ROOT/twonkymedia folder has been set to correctly point at the iTunes Library.xml file.

Has anyone got these navigation trees to work properly? I previously had Twonkyvision 5.0.68 installed on my Mac with the iTunes library resident on my Mac and got these navigation trees working successfully. Just to follow on from the above I had the idea of firing up Twonky 5.0.68 on my Mac and point it at the iTunes Library on the QNAP and lo and behold it generates the proper navigation tree. Looks conclusively like a bug in Twonky 4.4.17 unless anyone has other ideas?
