TwonkyMedia 4.1 ReInstall

Post by NickT » Sat Oct 10, 2009 9:49 pm

Hi,
I've been happily running TwonkyMedia(server) 4.1 for some years now streaming to 2 MP101's. Recently the motherboard on my Linux media server died and I had to rebuild it. I'm having problems reinstalling the media server because the two mechanisms it supports for obtaining a license key dont work any more - the servers it wants to talk to are no longer supported.

I tried upgrading to MediaServer 5.0 (as suggested by Twonky support) with less than great results, playback pausing and restarting - as others have commented on the forum.

I really want to get this running again. Does any one know how the security worked on the 4.1 version? I'm guessing it was tied to the MAC address on the motherboard but I tried overriding the MAC address on the new motherboard to report that of the dead motherboard instead and that didnt work.

I'm kind of annoyed that I have software I paid for I can no longer use because the supplier took the authentication servers off line.

Any help appreciated - including suggestions on how to use TM 5.X with MP101's

Thanks
Nick
