I inherited a Buffalo Terastation Pro II (TS-HTGL/R5 F/W 1.27) a while back and always fancied enabling it for UPNP/DLNA so that I could connect to it via some other device (PS3 or Squeezebox... etc). I remember looking at TMS as a possible solution but never really felt confident I could achieve it.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to get TMS onto a Terastation Pro II (TS-HTGL)?
2. If so, what is the process to get it installed?
3. Will it work effectively with 1000's of MP3 and/or photos and/or movies?
4. Am I likely to "brick" my NAS?
I've read many pages about enabling TELNET and getting root access... etc but I have to admit I'm not that clear on exactly how I do that. I looked at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/itimpi/telnet.htm which looked interesting until I got to the section for my NAS which redirected to http://buffalo.nas-central.org/index.ph ... k_Firmware. After reading through that page I got a bit overwhelmed with info.
Is it as simple as?:
1. Download " acp_commander.jar"
2. Execute command java -jar acp_commander.jar -t 192.168.1.11 -o -addons
3. Follow instructions from TMS install (Unzip all files from TMS package into a folder on your PC, start NASSetup.exe and follow the instructions)
My skills are limited when it comes to UNIX unfortunately although I have been working in the IT industry for over 10 years. I guess I'm just looking for some guidance.
Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated.
