My Book World to PS3 - wired is ok, but wireless is not

Post by bren4q » Fri Feb 26, 2010 2:44 am

Attached My Book World NAS drive (built in TwonkyMedia Server) to Cisco wireless modem router. When my PS3 is connected to the router using ethernet cable the media server appears and works perfectly on the PS3 media player. And vice versa, the PS3 is detected as a media receiver within the Twonky configuration.

But when I disconnect the PS3 and switch it to wireless, it does not see the Twonky server. However, when using the web browser on the PS3, I can point it to the IP address of MyBook World (port 9000) and can browse and play the videos that way across the wireless network. So it proves that the wireless connection works, but just not in the slick media server type of way.

UPnP is enabled on router.
PS3 NAT type is 2.
UPnP shows as "available" on PS3.
I've tried forwarding port 9000 to the PS3 but makes no difference either way.
No encryption on the wireless network.
Firewall on router is disabled.
Wireless signal is 100% (PS3 is right beside router).
Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 for everything - router, media server, and PS3.

Need to get wireless access to the media server working because the PS3 will be moved out of the room.
Any ideas why wired is fine, but with wireless the PS3 does not pick up the media server, and yet can still play the videos through the web browser?
Thanks.
