TwonkyMediaServer on Thecus N4100+ - settings are not saved

Post by descheret » Wed Dec 23, 2009 1:11 pm

Hello,

I installed this twonky server package (TwonkyMedia Version 2.3.00) without any problems on my N4100+, I can activate and use it. it scans the harddisk quit fast and also the connection to the clients seems working.

http://www.onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N ... WONKYMEDIA

problem - whenever I restart the N4100+ I have to reenter all settings (first steps, network, folders etc.). everything is gone

I installed SSH and logged in as root, but couldn't find out what I have to change...

can anyone help me please?
Thank you
Ronald

P.S. the only good thing is - it doesn't count the 30days trail version down :D but don't missunderstood - I really would pay for the server if evething is working

Find the twonky ini file and change its permissions to 777 - seems like the user that Twonky runs under on your box doesn't have the right to modify the ini file.

but how I can find the ini file, there is only the twonkymedia-server-default.ini - I created a twonkymedia-server.ini file with 777 rights in the same folder, but nothing changed. the linux command "find" isn't working. is there any other way to find out which place is the right one, maybe there is anywhere in the filesystem the ini file allready ... I'm not a linux guru and proud to get connected via ssh :) so any help on this is welcome.

Log in as root and cd to the \ folder.

Search using find -name twonky*.ini

This works on my Linkstation Pro and finds the ini file.

If you don't have an ini file then that might explain why your settings aren't saved. :o

Maybe try to re-install and monitor the details of the install to see if anything fails. Did you provide the root user details for the install?

find doesn't work:
-sh: find: not found

even if I try to create the file manualy and give him all rights it doesn't work... I think if the server starts it's looking on the wrong place - is there any place where I can tell linux which path it should use?

thank you very much

hmm. I'm the maintainer of the Twonkymedia Package for the Thecus N5200 (and similar modells). It seems that the ini file is written in an area which is cleared upon reboot of the box - could You post here the line or the whole script which starts the twonkymedia server.
