internet TVs

Hi I am new to the world of internet TVs and I think Sony was a bad starting point.
I have Twonky server V6.0.1 installed on a Sony Vaio Desktop PC hard wired to a Sony Bravia KDL40EX403. I can stream jpegs,MP3,. I have streamed both 720p and 1080p films, Vob and VTS files after they have been muxed by a programme called “tsMuxerGUI” all using Twonky server V6.0.1. The Twonky Server Logo shows on Sonys XMB and I can access the tree from the folder structure. I can see in the video tree AVI titles but keep getting the error message that there is no media content to show.
I have seen on the fourm that recode the AVI file by using “winffcodec” , I have done this without success.
In the transcoding configuration page MP3,Mpeg 2,WMV,Mpeg4 and flash check boxes are greyed out so I can not enable them. I am using a licensed version and not the trial version.
To add to the confusion I am routing the whole thing through a BT Home Hub 2
Is there a way to stream Mpeg 4/avi / other video formats using Twonky server V6.0.1?
Or do I have a bit missing?
Any help on this subject help will be thankfully welcomed
