Post by c1000mg » Sun Sep 19, 2010 4:11 pm

Hi,
I have a Sony Bravia TV and I setup a Fedora Linux Server with TwonkyMedia Server, I can listen to music and browse my pictures in the server but I can't see any video list and I can see them in the web application and in my folder.

I was wondering is there is a problem with my setup I got multiple type of movies mov, avi, mpg in the folder and none of them even show in the list, Please Help

Thank you

I'm able to browse pictures and music (using audio transcoding) on my Sony Bravia TV too.
Browsing video on the TV there is no video listed at all.
I activated video transcoding (on linux you have to change the path in file /usr/local/twonkymedia/cgi-bin/ffmpeg.location from c:\ffmpeg to /usr/bin; don't forget to install ffmpeg on your linux computer!), checked the MPEG2 checkbox and in my video folder mpeg2 videos are located which are streamed with other DLNA servers (I tried minidlna) to my TV.

Any ideas why there are no videos listed when browsing on the TV?

The above mentioned thread was no help to my problem.

you don't need ffmpeg to convert your MPEG2 videos. Sony Bravia TV, can play them natively. I used TwonkyServer 4.4.18 and it works excellent. Only twonkyServer 6.0.23 seems to have problem with.

My earlier post was not quite clear: I know Sony Bravia is able to play MPEG2. For this reason I did put à video of this format into my video folder. This should show up in video list in any case, I thought. Nevertheless I"d like to play videos in other formats too and therefore need ffmpeg.
Because I"m new to twonkyserver I don"t have Experience with earlier versions. Perhaps I should try one or wait until an update. Thanks for this hint!

Edit: In the meantime I tried earlier versions of twonkyserver (5.1.6 and 4.4.18) but was not successful with them. With 5.1.6 it was not possible to transcode audio- or videofiles. Like with version 6.0.23 it was not even possible to see video files in the video directory. As far as I understand the version 4.4.18 is not able to do transcoding and therefore no option for me.
