Sort Order Problem...

Post by micha1 » Sun May 16, 2010 12:48 pm

Is there a chance to change the Sort Order of the Albums ?

I am usinng a D-Link DNS323 as the TMS Server...

Normally i am navigate through the Albums "By Folder" but the Files are always sorted by the ID3 Tag in Alphabetical Order.

All my files are sorted by filenames like 01 - Soundfile1.mp3, 02 - Soundfile02.mp3 a.s.o

is there a chance to change the sort order from id3 tag to filenames ??

Hope you understand my bad english and understand what i want ;)

greetings
Michael

Hi there !

Well, your english is not so bad ...

First of all: I don't think there is a way to configure twonky like you want, BUT .....

... why would one even want to do that?

Are there valid MP3-Tags in your files? If so, why do you want to browse the files by name, and not by the 'real' trackname contained in the Tag ?

If you describe why you want to do what - maybe there is a way to realise that.

Sure, alle Tracks well organized with valid tags.

The reason is that some songs cross over and when the List is sorted by alphabet, sometimes habe i have problems with the chronology.

Yes i know what you mean, i could add a Tracknumber in front of the Trackname in the Tag to force the sorting, but i don´t want to see the Numbers in the Trackname during the playback in the client displays.

OK,

I see what you want.
Are you shure that the ID3 Tags contain the correct Tracknumbers for each title?
If so, then if you play by Album the order should be fine - at least it works this way for me.

Twonky 5 & beta 6 have this problem (but not 4.x) : when you browse by folder, files are sorted by tag. I have contacted the support, but the answer is clear: they don't consider this like a bug, even if it was working before.

Updated from Twonkey Server V4.x to V6.x and got the same problem now. Browsing by Album or adding tracknumber into titel might be a workaround (not even a solution) for small music collections but not for huge ones. Sort by Tracknumber and other options should be at least in the "advanced settings". Listening to a live album with randomized (or should i say tracks sorted by name) is just crap. I hope for a update for their software that brings a solution, as it does not look like it would give a solutionw ithout a software upgrade.

Hi,
seems here are some experts ...
I installed the new Twonky 6.1 on a MAC and use a Loewe TV as a client.
The problem is: A lot of our albums - especially audio books - were archived in iTunes and accessible on several PC in our house with no problems via iTunes. Now I would like to hear that books on the Loewe TV as well - but the sort order is wrong. The "maximum" of sort order is to get all the 1st tracks from every cd, then all of the 2nd tracks, of the 3rd tracks a.s.o....
Hint: Many of the audio books consists out of more then only one CD. All of the CD's are in one folder. Twonly now should sort first by CD, and then by track. The format seems to be AAC (m4a)....
The track names in the directories all are as <disc>-<track> <title>.m4a
Does anybody has an idea what to do? I don't want to delete the "-" in all names ... Thanks a lot!
ADD: I allready did some experimentals with the link of peeBee (viewtopic.php?f=18&t=8316&p=31925#p30809) without success ...
