Hi folks
i am trying to connect my toshiba regza 46vl733g with the twonky media server 4.4.17 on my qnap nas.
i can see all folders and play mp3 and see pictures without problems.
but when i want to stream movies, the tv always shows media errors. just some mpeg movies can be played, but nothing else.
i already tried to modify the clients.db file with the following settings:
ID:066
NA:TOSHIBA
HP:chunked
XM:DLNA15
XM:DATETIME
DB:FIX
MT:mp4 video/MP4V-ES
MT:mkv video/MP4V-ES
MT:avi,wmv,mpg,mpeg,mpeg2,vdr,spts,tp,ts,divx video/mpeg
but it doesnt work at all. i already tried a lot of settings, but could not find the right configuration.
has anyone successfully streamed to a toshiba tv and could tell me the rewuired config??
thanks for your help
manyu
Streaming/Transcoding for Toshiba 46VL733G
Re: Streaming/Transcoding for Toshiba 46VL733G
hi manyu.
I'm in your same condition.
I am trying to connect my toshiba regza 40SL733G with twonky media server 4.4.9 on my Giganas (mrt).
i can also see all folders and play mp3 and jpg, but "playback error" on videos.
i tried play video on pc by twonky PC mediabrowser: big video began after a lot of time, like as it buffering entire video (700Mb)

Re: Streaming/Transcoding for Toshiba 46VL733G
solved!
i think that problem is format: must be MPEG-2
i have converted wmp to mpeg2 and regza play video (bad but play)
i'm trying convert VOB file to MPEG...next time try again, now i go to sleep!

Re: Streaming/Transcoding for Toshiba 46VL733G
what do you mean the format must be MPEG-2?
Twonky should transcode all other formats to MPEG due to the following line: MT:avi,wmv,mpg,mpeg,mpeg2,vdr,spts,tp,ts,divx video/mpeg
or am i wrong? i dont want to convert all videos by hand.

Re: Streaming/Transcoding for Toshiba 46VL733G
good question, but i have no answer; my experience on video streaming is not sufficient to answer.
there is a flag on twonky configuration for enable convert on playing (suggest off on nas system or low speed cpu)...maybe...i have not tried

Re: Streaming/Transcoding for Toshiba 46VL733G
have you news ?
i tried more.
MPEG-2 and MPEG-TS is a good format for twonky/toshiba.
ripper dvd->mpeg2 is speedy...but convert my 150 old avi/divx videos (film) is very hard!!! (150*1,5h = 200h elaboration time)
best solution is transcoding online but on nas system i think that not exist!
i'm persuading myself that NAS have not been good choise
...maybe a pc low-consumer (asus or acer, with cpu atom) with windows system could be better
