Initial Caveat: I am posting this to potentially assist someone that finds themselves with a similar problem. I am somewhat tech savvy, but I don't totally understand how my fix works. This post is written so anyone can follow, but to many users here it is probably too simplistic. Second Caveat: I don't know if there has been/or will be harmful effects to my computer, television, or the TwonkyServer software from the fix--but none yet. I took this idea from another post, so it has worked for others.
I have a LG 50PX950 television. The TV is DLNA 1.5 enabled. I wanted to get media (videso, music, photos) from my Macbook Pro (running Snow Leopard) to play on the TV. Right off the bat using TwonkyMedia Server (“TMSâ€), I was able to play most of my videos and most of my music (iTunes). However, my photos, mostly jpegs, appeared as thumbnails in initial folder, but after clicking to expand them, the TV would report that it was an unsupported format. This was crap because Jpeg (and it variations) is the only format that the TV supports in DLNA.
To fix this issue I did the following:
In Application Folder, I “right clicked†TwonkyMedia Server and choose "Show Package Contents." In the new window, I expanded Media Server, then I expanded Resources. I double clicked clients.db. When asked, I choose TextEdit as the program to open the file. I scrolled down the document until I found a block of text that said:
NA:LG Blu-Ray Player
HH:LGE_DLNA_SDK
XM:DLNA15
DB:FIX
I inserted a line into this text (copied from a block of text that begins “NA:Generic Media Receiverâ€) so the text now said:
NA:LG Blu-Ray Player
HH:LGE_DLNA_SDK
XM:DLNA15
TR:JPEGORG,JPEG160x160,JPEG640x480,JPEG1024x768,JPEG1920x1080,MPEG
DB:FIX
I saved and closed the amended clients.db file. Closed all the TMS folders. Closed the program. Reopened TMS. When TMS opened, I confirmed that under Media Receivers my TV was set to LG Blu-Ray Player. Voila. The pictures opened.
I may make some additional tweaks to the "TR:" to get certain videos and music to play, but I will have to figure out what is not playing and if I can figure out what to put in to make it play. If I do, I will post.
If anyone has any thoughts, warnings, or better solutions please post. I hope this proves useful to some.
Final Though: If you prefer not to fiddle with the clients.db file. Another simpler, but less elegant solution that worked for me is to set the Media Receiver to Generic Media Receiver if you want to see photos and music and change it to LG Blu-Ray Player if you want to watch video. I think you need to restart the server for the switch to have effect.

Ed
