Twonky displaying the internal/original filename??

Post by grahamblandford » Tue Feb 15, 2011 8:06 pm

Hi all,

I have an issue, running the latest Twonky release on both my Win32 box and on my NAS Ultra.

It appears that Twonky is broadcasting the internal filename for a title instead of its actual filename.

E.g. I ripped some box sets, in this case "Bones".

During the ripping process the files get extracted from the DVD as 'BONES_S1_D1.Title1' or something along those lines.

I rename these files after the rip - more convenient and quicker.

But Twonky is somehow seeing that original filename??

I have other media servers running - PS3MediaServer AND Orb - both of these correctly show the (renamed) title of episode.
Is this a setting perhaps?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

what format is the file an mp4 m4v m2ts?

does your ripping program add tags to it?
if so it may have tagged the "title" tag with the original filename

also, you could try and have twonky rescan the content directories to see if that helps it see the change

The files are mp4. I use DVDFab to rip the DVD's. It seems if I rip to a vob I don't have the issue - but also don;t get the compression.

I look at the windows advanced properties of the file and don;t see anything 'strange' in the 'Title' fields, etc.

I've tried rescanning the folders, and nothing.

Any ideas on software that might be able to help me get to those tags?
I found an AVITagEditor, but that doesn't help with the mp4s....

Thanks,
G.

have you tried with mp3tag yet?
I use mp3tag to add coverart, genre, etc. to my video mp4 files

no i haven't - thanks, i'll give it a look. I just installed itunes (urrgh) in order to modify the metadata values.... it's a bit clumsy as the itunes U/I doesn't show the filename in addition to the descrrption... but i've managed to update the offending DVD rips....

Thanks again.
