Walkthrough needed on how to enable .mkv transcoding

Post by wordguy » Thu Jun 09, 2011 4:45 pm

Hi there,

I'm trying to figure out how to enable .mkv transcoding on my DNS-323 (1.09 FW). I have a Samsung D6000 Series LCD and a couple Win 7 laptops.

I've found a couple explanations online that describe setting up ffmpeg on their and then tweaking some other files.

Does anyone have a comprehensive walkthrough (similar to Briain's walkthrough on installing on twonky on the device)?

I've found this one:

http://www.twonkyforum.com/mediawiki/in ... ranscoding

Where can I find an unstripped library?

What editor should I use to edit the files and create a .desc file?

Unfortunately, most NAS do not enough enough processing power to do realtime transcoding of HD video files. Let's see what the other users with your NAS say about this.
